Signal Auto Shutdown

Signal-based equipment power management

Automatically powers down equipment when audio signal is absent and instantly restores power when signal returns. Manages up to 8 separate channels independently.

A simple way to shut down and start up devices based on audio signal presence. Designed for systems where native power management capabilities are limited or unavailable, such as amplifiers like the Meyer MPS that lack built-in auto-shutdown.

The plugin powers down equipment when audio signal is absent and instantly restores power when signal returns. Wire a Q-SYS Signal Presence component into the plugin’s input, attach your equipment’s power toggle to the output, and you’re done.

Features

  • Audio signal-based automation: powers down equipment when signal is absent, restores instantly when it returns
  • Configurable shutdown delay to prevent unwanted cycling during brief pauses
  • Instant zero-delay power restoration when audio signal returns
  • Independently monitor and control up to 8 separate channels
  • Comprehensive logging providing clear visibility of what changed, when, and why
  • Works with the Q-SYS Signal Presence component and any equipment controllable via Boolean toggles

Use Cases

  • Classroom AV systems: Automatically activate projectors when instructor audio is detected
  • Meeting room management: Power down unused equipment after meetings
  • Performance venues: Selectively control backstage and support systems based on program audio
  • Energy conservation: Reduce power consumption by ensuring equipment is only active when needed

Integration

Wire signal presence pins into the plugin to monitor audio. Attach the power toggle to your target device on the output side. The plugin handles the timing and state management.
